Different plastering stages require different tools. Serrated edge darbies are used during the base coat stage to key and prepare the surface, improving adhesion for subsequent layers. Feather edges are then used to level the material and ensure a flat surface, before smooth darbies are used to finish and refine the final coat.
Selecting the correct tool for each stage improves both efficiency and the quality of the finished surface.
